RECIPE: Best Fudge EVER! ($1.73)

I don't remember where I got this recipe but it really does make the BEST FUDGE EVER!

Best Fudge Recipe

1-1/2 cup sugar ($.24)
2/3 cups (5 oz can) evaporated milk ($.27)
2 Tbsp butter ($.18)
1/4 tsp salt

2 cups mini marshmallows or 20 regular size marshmallows ($.19 Clearance at CVS a few weeks ago)
1-3/4 cup milk chocolate chips (11.5 oz bag) ($.5
0)
1 tsp vanilla extract ($.35)

Line an 8"x8" square baking pan with foil. Combine sugar, milk, butter and salt in medium heavy duty saucepan. Bring to a boil and stir constantly for 4 minutes.

Remove from the heat, stir in marshmallows, chocolate chip
s and vanilla extract. Stir vigorously until chocolate chips and marshmallows have melted.

Pour into lined baking dish and refrigerate for 2 hours.

Lift from pan, remove foil and cut into 1" pieces. (Or if you're like me, you'll cut them into 2" pieces :)

You can make this whole pan of Fudge for $1.73. If you were to buy fudge by the pound, you'd pay around $10-12 per pound. When we go to the mountains, we usually stop by a fudge shop to pick up a 1/4 pound of fudge. Not anymore! I've never done the math before now and I know I won't ever be buying it again! I'll make my own and take it with us or we'll make it while we're staying in a cabin.

Variation: You can add chopped pecans or walnuts when you add the marshmallows and chocolate chips for Chocolate Pecan or Chocolate Walnut Fudge.

These are so rich!

Enjoy!
