My Friday Favorites 3/11/11

This week I'm looking for low-calorie desserts.  It's hard to since I don't like artificial sugar.  I'd rather use honey or less sugar.  It's a learning thing for me...

Strawberry Swirl Cheesecake - it's only 133 calories!

Flourless Chocolate Cake (141 calories using 1/3 cup honey instead of agave)

Cinnamon Chocolate Meringues

Do you have any low calories favorites?  Do share!

Thanks!

My Friday Favorites: Super Bowl Party Foods

I'm not a big football fan.

In fact, I only watch the Superbowl for the commercials.

Last year, PBS aired Jane Austen movies, so my Momma and I went in the bedroom to watch that while the guys watched the Superbowl in the living room.  It was so fun!

I shared some of our favorite party foods last year and thought I'd recap them for new followers.

These are our favorites.  I usually make Taco Soup (my hubby calls this Chili).  My mother-in-law gave us some Chili and it's in the freezer so we'll be thawing and reheating for supper.  We'll have a "Chili Bar" set up so everyone can make their Chili the way they want it.  Complete with hotdogs, chips, cheddar cheese, jalapenos, cornbread.  I think everyone will like that.  By everyone, I mean my parents, my brother and my little family.  We don't usually do a big party for the Super Bowl since my Dad likes to actually hear the game.
These are some of our favorites:

Do you have any favorites?

Enjoy!

My Friday Favorites 11/5/10

I've noticed several bloggers share some of their favorite blog posts or recipes from other bloggers around the web.  In an effort for me to keep track of some of the great recipes I'd love to try soon, I thought it might be easy to link those to a blog post and then I can reference them for future trial.

Plus, I can share them with you too!

Here's what I found this week:

Frugal Antics of a Harried Homemaker (can I just say I love her blog title!) made some Apple Rangoons.  Cream cheese AND cooked apples, um, yes please!

Running Away? I'll help you pack (love her's too!!!) made two recipes, but I really want to try the German Apple Cake.  Since Kevin doesn't like apples, I'm thinking this might be a good breakfast or afternoon snack for me and the kids.

The Paisley Cupcake shows us how to can pumpkin.  And you can use those gigantic pumpkins that the store has marked down to $.99 each.  My cousin Brenda asked the Produce Manager and he said they perfectly edible.

I've been addicted to Cherry Pie Larabars.  It's sort of an expensive habit.  Sarah at I Blame My Mother shows us how to make your own raw fruit and nut bars.  I can't wait to try this.  I picked up some dried dates at Walgreens for $1.  I'll keep track of the cost to see if it's cheaper for me to make these or buy them.

Lisa at Blessed with Grace made Mexican Pasta Shells a few weeks ago and I really want to try these soon.

Let me know if you try any of these.  I'd love to know how they turned out for you or if you tweaked them in any way for your family.

Enjoy!
