Slimmer This Summer: Week 2

This week was a little up and down.  I think I consumed way too many tortilla chips over the weekend.  And the salt has been affecting my weight.   My hands are pretty swollen, a tell-tale sign of too much sodium for me.

I went dress shopping this week to find my elusive dress.  I found it!  Or at least the same exact style.  I purchased one that fits, one that fits too small and one that is way too small.  I'll keep those as my incentive dresses.  They are so cute!  Maybe I'll sport one for you see.

I kept up with my jogging this week.  I did 2 miles on Monday; 2.33 miles on Wednesday;  2 miles on Friday.  On Friday I increased the incline 1/2% every 2 minutes at the urging of my sister-in-law.  I was so sore Saturday morning, I could barely move across the floor.  I needed ibuprofen to function.

I only lost .2 pounds this week.  After talking with some of my Facebook friends, I'm going to track my salt intake.

While we were shopping, I found a new exercise ball.  I've been doing some reading and learning what I need to do to strengthen my ab and core muscles.  After giving birth to a 9 lb youngin' I guess my belly muscles are completely shot.  They'll probably never be the same without some kind of surgery.  Which is not happening.  So I'm going to do what I can the old-fashioned way, strength training and ab control exercises.  The ball should help with all of that.

I've tracked all my meals.  Did you know the McDonald's BBQ Chipotle Grilled Chicken Snack Wrap is only 260 calories?  I ate that with the apple dippers (minus the caramel) this week for lunch.  We were out and the kids were starving.  It was really good!

My water intake started off good in the beginning of the week.  But towards the end of the week I got off schedule and I could tell!  I was so thirsty during the middle of the night!  I try to keep a glass of water on the counter in the kitchen to remind me to keep up with it.

I thought I'd share one of my favorite smoothies with y'all.  I've been drinking it for a while.  It's sweetened with sugar-free gelatin!

Strawberry Smoothie
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 cup plain, non-fat yogurt
1 tsp strawberry flavored sugar-free gelatin (powder only)
In microwave safe container, thaw strawberries in microwave for 1 minute on high.  Add yogurt to blender (or Magic Bullet), pour in the slightly softened strawberries and sprinkle the gelatin over the top.  Blend until completely smooth.  If it's a little thick, add 1 tablespoon of water.

It's only 150 calories.  I drink this for breakfast along with peanut butter toast or have it for a snack with cocoa roasted almonds.

Hope you are all doing well on this second week of the challenge.  You all have been so encouraging and I've enjoyed reading your progress!

Enjoy!

I've never thought about adding gelatin to a smoothie. That sounds interesting.
Yay on the dress.

Hey, 2 pounds is great! At least you lost instead of gained, even with retaining water. I wasn't able to join in the challenge with you, but I am still working on losing and eating healthier on my own. Keep up the great work Candi, I'm cheering for you! :)

Yeah for the dress! Good job on the .2. If it is because of the sodium, you should have a huge loss next week. I've never tried jello in a smoothie. I'm anxious to try that out.

I love cocoa roasted almonds! Keep up the work and yes, watch the salt. Maybe add some of the natural diuretic veggies...

I can't wait to see the dress. I'm going to have to try the smoothie. I love green monster smoothies. You should try this with a couple handfuls of spinach.

I've been bloated and my clothes are tight this past week too Candi, I wonder if this intense heat has something to do with it? Maybe our bodies retain fluids as a protective measure, kind of like when we're pregnant (we are wonderfully made!)?

Anyway, the chips and salsa at Nuevo Laredo were worth it. LOL!

Don't be discouraged about the abs. I remember doing Abs of Steel before I got pregnant with Sadie and my stomach felt really tight. Then when she was about 3 and I was working out at the gym a lot they got tight again. It takes time but they're not "shot". :-)

I am starting to work on mine again too because I'm having some low back pain which I know is caused by weak abs.

I want to see the dress! :-)

Surgery isn't happening here either so we gotta tighten what we can with what we have! Service must have been awesome on Saturday with those sore muscles! :-)

Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment, I don't think I saw your blog last week. My belly is one of the things I'd like to tone up to, but I don't do nearly as many crunches as I should!
Good luck with week 3 :-)

At least you know what caused the problem, now you can keep a eye on it you'll see a drop next week!

I never thought of using gelatin to flavor a smoothie, either!

Great work this week!

I am also going to monitor my sodium intake, I posted about it last week that it was bothersome. I think it might have some effect on why things aren't working out the way they should. A few tidbits of advice came in if you go check my post on my page. Good luck!

Thanks for the smoothie recipe! I love how the variety of blog dieters and sharing really helps in that aspect. When I get off this kick, I am taking what I have learned from you all and eating it to maintain and to enjoy.

Stay strong. StS baybee!

I am dedicating my week in researching bloat factor foods. I know that salt has a lot to do with it. I love to use beef and chicken Knorr in my flavoring for the eaters in my family, but that has soooo much salt.

Thanks for the smoothie recipe. I really like the variety of blogger recipes available and appreciate when the nutrition facts are added. It is a great thing to share this journey with you and all!

Stay strong and StS Baybee!

I try to get one glass of water down as soon as I wake up. Really helps me. Glad to see you are tracking. The scale will show more results next week!

Mmmmm... smoothies! A loss of .2lbs is still a loss and if it is due to salt, then you will be seeing a better loss next week. I go through that too! Here's to a great week 3!
