Meal Plan Monday 4/12/10


On Saturday we attended the Ottawa Farms Strawberry Festival in Bloomingdale, Georgia.  It's located just outside of Savannah, Georgia.  Oh my goodness!  We picked a ton of strawberries!  So tomorrow, I'll be sharing a Strawberry Recipe Round Up. (It's already up, you can view it HERE)   I'm featuring recipes from my favorite bloggers using fresh strawberries.  I'm also going to be preparing some Strawberry Preserves and will be posting the tutorial this week.  So you might notice we'll be eating quite a few of the fresh strawberries in our menu this week.  Afterward, I'll flash freeze them and use them in smoothies.


Weekly Breakfast:  Yogurt Parfaits with Strawberries and Granola, Oatmeal with Strawberries, Toast with Peanut Butter and Strawberry Preserves (stay tuned for recipe)

Weekly Snacks:  Strawberry & Berry Banana Smoothies (by Robert Irvine from Food Network for FNCCC), Fresh Strawberries  & Peanut Butter Crackers

Weekly Lunches:  Chicken Nuggets, Mandarin Oranges, Peanut Butter and Strawberry Sandwiches 

Weekly Suppers:

Monday:  Teriyaki Orange Ginger Fish & Noodles with Carrots and Broccoli

Tuesday:  Eggs, Sausage and Grits

Wednesday:  Bean Burritos with Rice & Beans

Thursday:   Chicken Alfredo Florentine Pasta for us and Creamy Chicken Pasta for hubs

Saturday:  Lunch:  Bean Nachos;  Supper:  Apricot Mustard "dump" Chicken (in the Crock Pot) rice and veggies

Sunday:  Lunch:  Bean Quesadillas:  Supper:  Sloppy Joes, Oven Fries, Green Beans

I had actually attended that strawberry fest with my wife and daughter. It was really excellent to taste the wonderfully sweet fruits. Keep up the great work with your articles and please stop by my health blog sometime. The web address is http://healthy-nutrition-facts.blogspot.com/.

Thanks for all the strawberry ideas! I've been taking advantage of all the cheap strawberries lately, but I've only been using them one way: macerating them in some vanilla sugar and eating them plain or with buttermilk biscuits. This gave me some great ideas for the rest of the week. :)

I'm loving the cheap prices for strawberries right now. I made strawberry shortcake with homemade whipped topping for dessert last night. Good looking menu this week.
